How to: Peephole

Today’s project was inspired by this Apartment Therapy post from last November. Living in a rental, installing something like this wasn’t an option, so I thought I’d try to recreate it in a completely reversible way.

Step 1: Spray your fabric with Stiffen Stuff. Once dry, sketch and then cut out your desired shape.

Step 2: Trace and then cut out a hole for the peephole.

Step 3: Using fabric paint, decorate your peephole surround.

Step 4: Let the paint dry completely. Place the fabric piece around your peephole.

Step 5: Set your iron to high heat with no steam. To keep the paint from sticking to the iron, cover the piece with some scrap fabric before ironing Iron over your piece, keeping the iron moving at all times and focusing on the edges.

All done!
