Very Un-Productive Week

WOW, this has been my least productive week in a long time! Have been so busy with other life stuff, I haven’t had time to work on any fun projects. That mades me SAD.

But this weekend is actually pretty wide open, so I’m hoping to be able to fit in some craft/DIY goodness. For one thing, I really want to finally try out the Speedball Screen Printing Kit I got for Christmas. I finally got around to ordering the transparancy paper I needed (why that doesn’t come with the kit, I’ll never understand), so now I’m ready to go! Hopefully I’ll have a few nice, sunny hours so I can burn my screen outside instead of having to rig up some sort of lighting system.

Any screenprinters out there have any tips for a newbie like me?

I got the same screen printing kit for christmas and still haven’t opened it. :(

Good luck!

So glad to hear from you Allison! I never received an e-mail from you with your address, as requested here: http://metalandmud.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/free-stuff-metal-mud-designs-winner/. I have the piece set aside and ready to go, I just need to know where to send it.

I made t-shirts with my design a long time ago and sold them all around town and made a handy profit. Not having my glasses that day I had the salesperson verify that the inks were permanent fabric ink. Well guess what? The inks were NOT permanent fabric ink. The t-shirt pictures disappeared with the first wash. I will allow you to finish the rest of that story. One bit of advice is that you should have a second set of hands to hold the frame when you drag the ink applicator. Oh I see the word “burn” This must be another process because I am talking 50 years ago when we cut the design on film with an exacto knife. Well anyway, make sure you use the proper ink. I am lucky to still have my head.
